The speeches are the time in the wedding day when family & friends really let their emotions show. It is usually during Dad’s and especially the groom’s speech.
As a documentary wedding photographer I need to be ready to capture the reactions of family and friends when very emotional and heartfelt words are being spoken.
Nicola & Dan’s wedding was a real fun wedding. Nicola had worked really hard to give the wedding a fun theme; with all of the bridesmaids wearing bright polka dot dresses and the wedding breakfast room was full of polka dot party hats and balloons.
Throughout the day there was lots of laughter and tears, as a wedding should be.
That is one of the things I love about weddings. People are more prepared to show their emotions and let their guard down for the day.
This photograph was taken as Dan was telling Nicola how he felt about her. It’s usually the moment when the bride will shed a few tears along with mum.
I love the reactions from Nicola’s mum and dad. This photograph will be one of the most valued memories for the couple in the future as it captures the moment so well. The bride all-aglow has her husband declares his love for her to the world and mum and dad’s reactions are priceless.
Dan’s speech was a lot more thoughtful than usual and he even sang a song he had especially chosen for the wedding while playing his guitar. He had all of the room up singing along!
That is why I shoot weddings in a documentary style. Because I am always focused on what is happening around me without orchestrating or interfering, I capture the real moments throughout the day.
My clients are free to enjoy their day without having to worry about me as their wedding photographer.
The photographs I provide for my clients tell the story of the day, bringing back real memories in years to come.
