I really loved being Ashleigh & Will’s Crewe Hall wedding photographer. They are such a fun-loving and easy-going couple, it was such a fantastic day to spend photographing them! With family coming from halfway around the world it promised to be a super emotional day and it didn’t disappoint. Crewe Hall is such an exciting venue to be a wedding photographer, the photographic possibilities are endless. Such great light for the ceremony photographs in the stunning chapel. We had a sunny day in November which was truly a blessing and helped us photograph some amazing portraits.

HISTORIC CREWE HALL WEDDING VENUE

Crewe Hall is one of the grandest and most sought-after wedding venues in the North West. The site dates back to 1170, it came into the Crewe family in 1608, and was rebuilt and extended in 1636. After a fire in 1866 the interior had a lot of mid-Victorian ornamentation including ornate plasterwork, wooden sculptures stained glass windows, and exquisite marble fireplaces. The architect was Edward Barry. The Queen has even visited it in 1955! The venue is a wedding backdrop any wedding photographer would love to shoot at.

I started to photograph the day in one of the beautiful bridal suites where the bride and her bridesmaids were having their bridal preparations. After the flowers arrived the bride put on her wedding dress helped by her bridesmaids and the mother of the bride. The light is always fantastic in these stately homes, big large windows make the light perfect for some special photographs. I like to experiment with my photos with different angles to capture that perfect moment. Using a camera in brilliant wedding venues like Crewe Hall is a dream come true.

STUNNING WEDDING CEREMONY ROOM AT CREWE HALL

Ashleigh & Will had the wedding ceremony at Crewe Hall and it was held in the Chapel. The groom was waiting with his groomsmen for the bride to walk up the aisle with her mother! The chapel is a fantastic backdrop for the ceremony photographs, as the light is fantastic. After a pretty emotional exchange of vows and exchange of rings with lots of tears from the bridesmaids, it was time to sign the register and then it was back to the hall of pillars for the drinks reception and some Champagne and canapés.

Because I shoot weddings in a natural documentary style I can capture lots of natural moments. These will be images that will evoke real memories for years to come. I am glad I had my prime lenses because the light levels in autumn are quite low in the hall of pillars. With prime lenses, you can shoot in really low light.

PHOTOGRAPHING THE SPEECHES IN THE LONG GALLERY

After some family group shots and the couple’s portrait photographs, it was time for the speeches which against popular convention were given by the bridesmaid,  the mother of the bride, the best man, and a shared speech by the bride & groom. Laughter and tears in equal measure as each person let the room know how much they loved and were greateful for each other. A great cake cutting and first dance ended a perfect wedding day at Crewe hall. I love photographing the guests having fun!

FIRST DANCE IN THE LONG GALLERY

After the Long gallery was turned around the bride and groom were welcomed back into the room to cut the cake. Then it was straight to the first dance. The bride and groom twirled away and were soon joined by  keen and revved-up guests who let it all down on the dancefloor. Love photographing the dance floor action, I got some great fun shots of the wedding guests dancing away.
