It’s really a great thing to be a Cheshire Wedding Photographer. Cheshire has some of my favourite places to visit like Delamere Forest and the city of Chester. My family and I love walking and it’s really ace to be so close to such a fabulous forest as Delamere. Cheshire has some of the grandest stately homes in the North of England and some of those are also wedding venues. If you are getting married in Cheshire you really have a massive choice of venues situated in some of the most beautiful countryside in the country.

Cheshire is a very special place to get married

The name Cheshire stems from the Anglo Saxon word Legeceasterscir which means “the shire of the city of legions”. By the time of the Domesday book, it was recorded as Cestrescir (Chestershire), derived from the name for Chester at the time. As the English language changed it eventually resulted in the Cheshire we know today.

Cheshire is famous for it’s Cheshire Cheese, Salt & silk. The salt industry was founded in Roman times with the mining of salt in Middlewich & Northwich. Cheshire is mainly rural and its main industry has always been farming especially dairy farming. Cheshire is studded with many wonderful and picturesque villages which are perfect for days out. (Don’t forget to take your camera!) Some of the most essential to visit include Alderley Edge, Audlem, Bollington, Christleton, Disley, Eccleston, Great Budworth, Holmes Chapel, Lymm, Marple Bridge, and Styall.

Most of these villages have fantastic walks around the surrounding countryside which Cheshire has in abundance, they are perfect for a cycling holiday or even touring by car! Alderley Edge is a National Trust site of natural beauty with its dramatic sandstone Escarpment and amazing views over the Cheshire Plain to the Peak District.

 

 

Chester voted Prettiest City In the U.K.

If you are thinking about jetting off for a weekend break, you might think closer to home and visit Europe’s fifth most beautiful city – Chester! Chester has beaten some of Europes most famous and iconic cities like Prague, Rome and Venice in an online poll of Europes prettiest cities. 

American newspaper USA Today says of Chester “Roman walls surround a charming collection of Tudor and Victorian buildings, and a delightful shopping district filled with half-timbered shops. It’s reminiscent of a Grimm tale. There’s not a modern structure in sight, making Chester one of the most popular destinations for visitors to the U.K.” Chester is surrounded by world-famous Roman city walls, with a beautiful cathedral and the landmark Eastgate Clock. Chester has a perfect combination of natural beauty with the River Dee and the meadows with the original Tudor shopping rows and Roman walls. It has many luxury hotels too, including Edgar House, The Chester Grovesnor, 80 Watergate Street, Mill Hotel & Spa, Hallmark Hotel, The Queen, Chester, and Oddfellows and many more first-rate places to stay.

Cheshire was also on the route of the first known Stagecoach that ran between Birmingham and Holywell via Nantwich and Chester in 1637! If you are science nut you can visit Jodrell Bank which when built-in 1957 was the largest dish steerable radio telescope in the world. To this day the giant Lovell telescope is still one of the largest, coming in at the third biggest in the world! It holds the record for the first observation of extragalactic radio source — the Andromeda nebula made in 1950 

Cheshire joins the Peak District to the East of the county. The Peak District was the first English National Park stretching from Lyme and the hills of Buxton to Biddulph’s moorlands in the south. Cheshire’s Peak District has truly breathtaking scenery and dramatic landscapes. For the walkers out there Cheshire has it all and more. 

Cheshire’s Peak District is home to 7 national Trust properties, including Tatton Park and Harley Hall which are magnificent mansions and also have award-winning gardens. There are many stunning gardens to visit including Adlington Hall, Gawsworth Hall, Capesthorne Hall, Quarry Bank and Rode Hall & Gardens. With over 35 million visitors a year Cheshire is an excellent place to holiday, from a romantic weekend in Chester to a full-on tour of the areas many amazing places to visit. 

 

 

Wedding Venues In Cheshire

Cheshire has some of the best wedding venues in the country and lots of them! Brides and grooms travel from all over the North West with their wedding guests to have their special day in one of the many fabulous wedding venues. You could have your bridal preparations in the aptly named Royal Suite at Crewe Hall. Imagine your bridesmaids helping you into your wedding dress in the same room that King George V and Queen Mary stayed in 1917!

You could have a real fairytale wedding at Peckforton Castle set on Peckforton Hill. Imagine walking up the aisle in the Great Hall, with its 10M high vaulted ceilings and massive stained glass ceilings. It even has a minstrel gallery! Saying your vows in such a setting really is dream come true for some brides and grooms. After your drinks reception, you could have your wedding breakfast in the stunning Music room at Thornton Manor. This awe-inspiring room is decorated with wood panelling, elaborate plasterwork and paintings by Giovanni Cipriani.

Cutting the cake and having your first dance in such a luxurious setting would be the perfect ending for any newlywed couples wedding day. For something truly different why not get married in a stunning grade II listed building in the middle of Chester Zoo! Set in 125 acres of award-winning zoological gardens and there are 27,000 of the most amazing and endangered animals to be photographed with! Photographing in the Cheshire Peak district

If you like to photograph landscapes there are plenty of beautiful views to shoot with your camera. Using a tripod and a Neutral Density graduated filter you could capture a dramatic landscape shot from Alderly Edge with views across the Cheshire plains. If you like walking there is the famous Gritsone trail, a 35-mile trail with amazing views of  Cheshire’s peaks and plains. You will get some fantastic landscape images with your camera as you enjoy the dramatic views. For the science buffs, you will be amazed at some of the worlds rarest engines mechanical engines at the Anson Engine Museum.

If you want a trip back in time to the industrial revolution you can visit Quarry bank mill which shows how a complete industrial community worked and lived. If you love nature you can visit Blue Planet Aquarium which is home to giant Sand Tiger sharks, Nurse sharks and has a 70M long underwater tunnel. With so many things to do you seriously could stay and have your honeymoon in Cheshire!
